Apfs Format Mac

If your Mac uses HFS+, select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the format list. If your Mac is using APFS, select APFS from the format list. See Troubleshooting for more information on which format to select. If the Scheme is available, select GUID Partition Map.

hello
guys! So I Just upgraded my old Mid-2010 White Unibody MacBook with 8GB RAM and a 500GB SSD.
I installed a new copy of Mac OS High sierra and enabled TRIM.
Also I tried to startup in recovery mode to be able to convert the drive's format from Mac OS extended Journaled to APFS but the option appears to be dimmed and cannot select it. I read that this operat
ion is always possible as long as you're using an SSD.
Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong here?
Your help will be pretty much appreciated!

APFS drives will not mount on macOS versions older than macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) APFS is only available when Scheme is set to ‘GUID Partition Map', APFS will not be shown when Scheme is set to Master Boot Record – See Step 7; Starting with Big Sur, APFS is now the default for Time Machine; APFS does not natively work with Windows. Jan 30, 2018 No Ability to Format APFS with Disk Utility! All contemporary Support Articles in the 'Disk Utility' thread states that I can format a disk (including an external HDD) by using Disk Utility and create APFS as the Format. The Disk Utility app Version 17.0 (1635) was installed as part of MacOs 10.13.2 - High Sierra. If you decide you no longer want to use the volume as an APFS volume, you can use the Disk Utility application to format the partition with the Mac HFS+ file system or the cross-platform exFAT file system. Just launch the Disk Utility, right-click or Control-click the drive containing your APFS partition, and select 'Erase'. Apple's macOS 10.13 High Sierra brings a new file system named 'Apple File System', which largely replaces the older HFS+ file system. Apple File System, also known as APFS, has been used by default on iPhones and iPads since iOS 10.3, and is also used on the Apple Watch and Apple TV—but now it's finally on the Mac, too.
